Research Proposals

General Criteria
The Foundation lays particular store by the following:
  • Originality of approach
  • Quality of ideas and thinking
  • Quality of project leadership and team
  • The potential for applying the project's outcome
  • Funding projects - we will not find organisations or individuals

Explotation Strategy
In line with practice developing in the EU and elsewhere, The Foundation requires proposals to include a clear, detailed strategy for disseminating the findings of proposals and for "exploiting" their outcomes.

Co funding
When assessing proposals from the business community or funded institutions in the HE and FE sectors, The Foundation will expect applicants to have secured commitments from other sources of funding that at least match the level of contribution being sought from us.

Applications: Content, focus and brevity
A proposal should not exceed 4 single-sided A4 pages. It needs to cover the following points:
  1. Context of proposal
  2. Purpose and relevance
  3. Content
  4. Timing and costs
  5. Outcomes
  6. Dissemination and exploitation strategy
